The East African Community (EAC) held a National Coordination Committee Meeting on March 16th and 17th, 2023, to monitor the implementation of regional strategies in the fruits and vegetables, pharmaceuticals, and leather and leather products sectors. The meeting, which was held at the Crown Plaza in Nairobi, was organized in partnership with GIZ and aimed to develop National Action Plans and Progress Monitoring Templates for effective tracking of the implementation of the strategies.
Representatives from both the public and private sectors attended the meeting, including NPCK, KAM, and FPEAK, who represented the private sector in the fruits and vegetables sector, while Kentrade, KEBS, KEPHIS, Ministry of Agriculture, and Ministry of Trade represented the public sector. The objective of the meeting was to create a platform for stakeholders to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the sectors and develop actionable plans to address them.
The meeting was a crucial step towards achieving the EAC’s regional development goals, particularly in promoting the growth of key sectors. The EAC remains committed to supporting the implementation of regional strategies and working closely with stakeholders to ensure the achievement of the region’s development objectives.
