Africa Food Systems 2023 Summit Returns to Drive Food Systems Transformation and Empowerment

The Africa Food Systems 2023 Summit is set to make a highly anticipated return this September, scheduled from September 5th to 8th in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The prestigious event will be hosted by Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, in collaboration with the AGRF Partner’s Group.

Under the theme “Recover, Regenerate, Act: Africa’s Solutions to Food Systems Transformation,” the summit will center around the vital task of revamping food systems across the continent. With a focus on “building back better” food systems, the 2023 theme places special emphasis on the inclusion and empowerment of youth and women. They are positioned as pivotal actors in driving the transformation of Africa’s food systems.

The summit will witness the active participation of public and private sector representatives, engaging in dialogues aimed at fostering renewed commitment and collaboration in addressing food systems challenges. Central to the discussions will be the concept of regeneration, which is viewed as a potent tool for creating wealth and prosperity throughout the continent.

The Africa Food Systems 2023 Summit is expected to be a milestone event, charting a path towards sustainable and equitable food systems while harnessing the energy and potential of Africa’s youth and women. It is anticipated that the summit’s outcomes will inspire concrete actions and initiatives that will reshape the future of food in Africa.
