Nairobi Set to Host 14th African Union High-Level Private Sector Forum, Fostering Trade and Investment for Inclusive Growth

Nairobi, Kenya, July 8, 2023 – In a collaborative effort between the African Union Commission and the East African Community Secretariat, the 14th African Union High-Level Private Sector Forum is all set to take place at the esteemed Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya. Scheduled from July 10th to 12th, 2023, this three-day forum aims to promote public-private sector engagement, foster inclusive growth, sustainable development, and enhance regional and continental trade and investment, thereby contributing to the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

With an expected participation of over 500 delegates from across Africa and beyond, the event will attract a diverse range of attendees including high-level public policy makers, private sector actors, representatives from financial institutions, women and youth-led/owned creative start-ups, as well as academia and research institutions. Moreover, more than 100 exhibitors from Africa and other parts of the world will showcase their merchandise at the KICC, adding to the vibrancy of the forum.

The primary objective of the 14th High-Level Forum is to strengthen the linkages between regional and continental markets, promoting increased trade and investment opportunities. The forum will commence with an opening session on Monday, July 10th, 2023, featuring esteemed dignitaries such as Hon. Rebecca Miano, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for East African Community and Arid and Semi-Arid Lands, H.E. Amb. Albert Muchanga, Commissioner of Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry, and Minerals at the AU Commission, H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary General of AfCFTA, and EAC Secretary General, Hon. (Dr.) Peter Mutuku Mathuki.

The highlight of the event will be the Presidential Session on July 12th, 2023, which is expected to be attended by the President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Dr. William Ruto, alongside other Heads of State from African Union Member States. Their presence will further emphasize the significance of the forum in fostering regional collaboration, economic growth, and development.

The 14th African Union High-Level Private Sector Forum promises to be an influential platform for stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue, establish valuable connections, and explore opportunities for trade and investment. With its focus on inclusive growth and sustainable development, this event holds immense potential in shaping the future of Africa’s economic landscape.
