Elgon Kenya is proud to announce the acquisition of a ground-breaking new paper sleeve making machine, the first of its kind in the region. This advancement comes in response to increasing demands for environmentally friendly packaging as concerns for environmental preservation grow. The new machine aligns with our vision of maintaining our leadership position in the flower sleeve manufacturing sector, including both plastic and paper products.
This state-of-the-art machine is designed to produce high-quality paper sleeves in various combinations, such as PAPER/PAPER, PAPER/BOPP, and PAPER/CPP. It meets the specific needs of local flower farms in terms of quality, specifications, and capacity. This innovation addresses the previous challenges faced by local farms, which often had to import paper sleeves. Now, we can provide timely, customized deliveries directly to local farms, with quantities tailored to their needs. Additionally, our new machine’s substantial production capacity positions us well for future export opportunities.
One major issue with paper sleeves has been their tendency to become soggy in wet conditions, leading many flower farms to shy away from using them. Weāve overcome this problem by using specially coated ribbed kraft paper, which is moisture-resistant while preserving the quality of printed designs. This ensures that our sleeves retain their aesthetic appeal and functional integrity throughout the supply chain. For clients who prefer their flowers fully visible, we also offer PAPER/BOPP combination sleeves.
Our paper sleeves range from 30-102 gsm, covering the full spectrum of paper used in flower packaging. We offer both plain and printed options. Importantly, all our paper sleeves are fully recyclable and compostable, contributing to a cleaner, safer environment. We use only FSC-certified paper, sourced from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits.
Moreover, we have implemented environmentally and socially responsible production practices. Our manufacturing environment is safe, prohibits child and forced labor, and adheres strictly to human and labor rights. We enforce policies against discrimination, harassment, and intimidation, and provide clear communication channels for workers to voice their concerns.
This commitment to ethical practices is crucial for our clients, particularly those in the European market, which demands proof of ethical manufacturing practices. We undergo annual quality, safety, and social audits to ensure compliance with global standards and identify areas for improvement.
All our sleeve-making operations are handled in-house, giving us full control over production, quality control, and delivery. This approach enhances accountability, traceability, and transparency, allowing us to manage delivery schedules efficiently and expedite urgent orders.
As an ISO 9001:2015 and BRC certified company, we guarantee that our products are of high quality, safe for use, and meet all legal requirements. Choosing Elgon Kenya means receiving top-notch sleeves that fulfill both local and international market criteria. Weāve done the heavy lifting to ensure our customers get sleeves that are fit for purpose. In essence, “Elgon cares.”
