Agriculture CS Kagwe pledges stronger ties with private sector on fertilizer subsidy

The Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Bw. Kagwe, alongside Principal Secretary Ronoh, engaged in a high-level meeting with key players in the fertilizer sector this afternoon to deliberate on the ongoing fertilizer subsidy program.

During the discussions, CS Kagwe demonstrated a deep understanding of the sector’s needs, showing a keen interest in fostering collaboration between the government and private stakeholders. His articulate and responsive approach has positioned him as a leader the industry can effectively work with to enhance agricultural productivity.

Notably, the CS committed to holding regular consultations with the Agricultural Sector Network (ASNET) to strengthen public-private sector relations. Under the leadership of Dr. Bimal Kantaria, ASNET is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping policies that benefit farmers and stakeholders in the agriculture value chain.

This development marks a promising step toward streamlining the fertilizer subsidy initiative, ensuring accessibility, and driving sustainable agricultural growth in Kenya.
