Nairobi, Kenya – The Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) has officially inaugurated the nationwide launch of the 2023 Vijana na AgriBiz Competition, spanning all 47 counties in the country. As an integral component of the AgriBiz program, this competition is set to invigorate the agribusiness landscape by targeting young individuals and women with innovative and economically sustainable ideas within the sector.
With a twofold objective, the competition endeavors to surmount the barriers obstructing youth involvement in the expansive agricultural domain while simultaneously providing comprehensive support throughout the agricultural value chain. This encompassing assistance spans traditional agriculture, fisheries, and livestock, reaching across inputs, production, suppliers, and end consumers.
Central to the initiative’s overarching goals is the stimulation of inventive agricultural practices and agribusiness strategies, fostering local young entrepreneurs, and cultivating a climate of pioneering entrepreneurship within the agribusiness sphere. The competition strives to garner international recognition for groundbreaking approaches, establish critical market connections, facilitate pathways for expansion, and acknowledge and bolster high-growth entrepreneurs poised to propel economic progress.
The essence of the Vijana na AgriBiz competition is to galvanize the participation of emerging entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector, promoting inventive thinking and sustainable methodologies. Further details about the competition and the application portal can be found here and here.
