Court blocks avocado farming near Amboseli, locals celebrate

Local residents and conservationists are celebrating the Environment and Lands Court’s decision to reject KiliAvo Fresh Limited’s application to establish an avocado farm near Amboseli National Park. The court upheld NEMA’s revocation of the farm’s license, citing significant environmental concerns, including impacts on water resources and wildlife corridors. Conservation groups, such as the Amboseli Landowners Conservancies Association, praised the ruling as a critical measure for preserving the region’s biodiversity. This decision highlights Kenya’s commitment to sustainable land use and environmental protection
